The Army Cadet Force (ACF) is for boys and girls aged 12 ( and in secondary education) to 18. It is the British Army's youth organisation with over 47,000 cadets and 8,500 volunteer leaders. There are more than 1,700 Units across the country, and it has 150 years of experience . You don't have to join the army because you are in the ACF - there is no pressure to sign up.
You will meet one or two evenings a week, and sometimes at weekends to train for or take part in various activities such as: shooting, adventure training, parades, drill, field craft, map and compass, Duke of Edinburgh award, climbing, abseiling, sports, combat exercises, working with the regular army and TA, command tasks, leadership training, skill at arms, expeditions, signals training and many other competitions. You will also take part in annual camp which is a two week adventure using all the skills you've learned in previous training exercises. Through CVQO you can gain 4 A*-C GSCEs through being in cadets.
A uniform is provided and all activities are supervised by properly qualified ACF or Army instructors.
If you are interested in joining the London Scottish Cadet units please come along to your nearest detachment (see below) or visit the Army Cadet Force web site at: www.armycadets.com.
