No. 1 (Combat) Army Recruiting Team runs an Army Insight Course on the first Saturday of every month
Designed to give people with no knowledge of service in the Army an idea of what life might be like – whether as a Regular or Territorial soldier – the one day Army Insight Course could be what you need to help you decide. No overnight stay is required, there is no cost to you (other than travel to get to Woolwich) and there is no commitment to join the Regular Army or TA.
However, you do need to be eligible in principle to join the Army in order to attend the Army Insight Course – in other words, you need to have a valid nationality and UK residency status and be medically fit. There are some other requirements and these are best explained by attending the TA Centre or an Army Careers Information Office for an initial interview.
The staff at the TA Centre or Army Careers Information Office will provide a detailed explanation of what the Army Insight Course involves, discuss and check your eligibility, issue you with the attendance paperwork and then book you onto the course you want. In outline, the Army Insight Course involves you in observing demonstrations, undertaking tasks as part of a team, doing an assault course and a run, plus other activities.
So, pop in to see us at our TA Centres on a Training Night – at our Westminster location on Tuesdays from 7:00pm to 9:00pm and at our Catford location on Wednesdays from 8:00pm to 10:00pm. Or go to an Army Careers Information Office (in the phonebook) during the day. If you are not ready to make the decision to join yet, talk to the recruiter about attending an Army Insight Course.
