Drum Major's Mace

After reconditioning and revaluing the Centenary Mace in 2006, it was decided in future to keep this wonderful regimental presentation in the silver store for special occasions only. This meant that the drum Major would have to use the Coronation Mace, or G1098 Mace as it is more commonly known. This created a few problems. Firstly, the mace has seen better days, the staff was a bit rough and the chains had come away in places. Secondly the staff was very long and DM Foulis found that it dragged on the ground. With the Trustees blessing, work was started in November to smarted up for the new marching season.
Therefore on the 22nd February 2007, the Regimental Secretary and his predecessor's predecessor (Alan Morris, for those who I have lost) drove up to Dalman & Narborough Ltd in Birmingham to collect the newly reconditioned mace. Whilst there, Alan Baldwin D&N's Sales Director, gave the two Reg Sec's a guided tour of the faculties, work shops, and showed them their new stores for their newly acquired website business www.cadetkitshop.com They also have an impressive lead model display of pipe and drum majors of most scottish regiments in a smart cabinet, which the newer RS found on the previous visit to be somewhat incomplete. A rather fine lead model of DM Goodman on a wooden plinth was presented to Alan to complete the display as thanks for D&Ns outstanding work.'
